Cardiff Combat Workshop

The Cardiff Combat workshop summer course is held at the Atlantic College, which is a beautiful castle that sits on the Bristol Channel, that is situated seven miles outside Cardiff City centre. It is a traditional old style castle combined with enough modern requirements to keep that castle feel alive, but with a lush green forest with various gardens, like the mysterious 'Garden of Beasts' that surrounds the castle itself. With the look and feel it has, it's as though you were standing in something from Harry Potter.

The summer course has been designed so that anybody with any level of experience can participate. The courses that are provided on the Cardiff Combat summer workshop is designed to help you achieve the next level in your development in Stage combat training. The course runs from Saturday 16th July to 23th July and costs £575 for the full week. This covers all accommodation, 3 meals a day, all evening workshops, use of the castle’s facilities and exam fees. A £100 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE A PLACE, the deposit is NON REFUNDABLE or TRANSFERABLE, taking the course does NOT guarantee a qualification. Academy of Performance Combat ‘Actors to Arms’ members there is a £25 discount if you put your Actors to Arms membership, so long as you place membership number at the time of booking.

Each of the courses, which are being held on the workshop, is set out in the same style that can be found in most drama school training or independent courses that are held around the United Kingdom. If you have no experience, then we would advise you to do the Foundation exam. If you have completed your Foundation exam, or had some strong working experience in stage combat already, you move on to the Basic course. If you have taken an exam and the date has expired, you can still apply for the next level qualification. you must supply a photocopy of your certificate. Should this not be available, we will need to know when, where and with whom did you receive your tuition for your exam.

The accommodation at Atlantic College is made up of 1 room containing 4 single beds. If you would like to be booked with friends or relatives, this is not a problem. On the application form there is a section were you can let us know this, so we can try and make sure you are all together. With regards to Food we can make sure dietary requirements are covered.
