biography

The course has a team of highly professional teachers, all of whom are prolific within the acting industry.  These teachers are made up of working professionals at leading drama schools and Fight Directors from all forms of media including Theatre and Film.  The two lead tutors are Kevin McCurdy and Andrew Ashenden who oversee all the courses as well as teaching on the course.  Each level is assigned their own tutor to ensure that the tuition received is to the highest of standards.

 

 

 
 

KEVIN McCURDY

Kev is the only Equity professional Fight Director in Wales. He trained as an actor and began his fight apprenticeship at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff in 1988. After graduating in 1991, he continued his training for a further two years and gained his combat teacher status in 1993.

Since qualifying as an Equity professional fight director in 1996, he is now the resident fight master at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Kev is also an Instructor and Examiner with the newly formed Academy of Performance Combat (APC)

    ANDREW ASHENDEN

Resident Fight teacher for: G.S.A, The Bridge and Royal Academy of Music (R.A.M). Equity Registered Fight Director, Co- founder of the Cardiff Combat workshop, Founding Member of the Academy of Performance combat.

Andrew has worked as a fight director over 10 year in television, film and theatre. Such companies include; BBC Wales on the Soap POBOL Y CWM since 2006, Welsh National Opera, Theatre Royal Bath, The Globe (touring Company), Bute Theatre Wales, Birmingham Stage Company to name a few.

Also works as director. Last year directed two productions for Chapter House Theatre Company, Merlin the Magician and Romeo and Juliet.
